Five quotes that define how I’m finding my motto in life

Live with purpose — even on your coffee break.

Today I will be short — hopefully still effective. Here are five of my mantras. Or should I say my motto? These quotes are short sentences that describe very well my beliefs or ideals guiding in life. I use these quotes in my meditation practice. They are my safe place, my reminder to be mindful and present. I go back to them every time something goes pretty wrong or extremely right. They calm me down, inspire me and remind me that at the end:

every little thing is gonna be alright.

“You are the average of the five people you most associate with”.

I learned that from Tim Ferriss but the quote is by Jim Rohn. My Mom would probably be mad to hear that I learned that in someone’s book. As a matter of fact, I grew up hearing her saying “ Tell me who you go with and I’ll tell you who you are”, why goes along the same lines. Well, I guess the most important thing is to learn the lesson, not the teacher who taught the class, right?
What I like about this quote is how empowering it is. You choose the people you want in your life. And I bet you want successful, smart and funny friends, right? Well, what if I tell you to just empower your friends. Learned something new? Share it.

“Everything happens for a reason”.

Apart the cliche this quote guide me in everything in my life. I realized that there is no such thing as coincidence reading The Celestine Prophecy”, by James Redfield.

“People only act out of desperation or inspiration”.

Another mantra by Jim Rohn that I might have adapted a bit.

“Busy is a decision”.

This quote is from the wonderful Debbie Millman. I learned about her inspiring story a year ago on Tim Ferriss podcast. She says that “being busy” is not only the most inauthentic but also the laziest response to justify something you didn’t do. Just face it: you didn’t make to the party/called your friend/attended that meeting simply because it was not on your priority. Once you know what it matters to you, you will always have a track of your time and how you decide to spend it.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why”

This is a classic quote by Mark Twain that every time I repeat it to myself it reminds me of Odara and my mission on Earth.

In the last couple of months, I’ve been repeating these quotes to myself more often. I’ve even been spreading the world with others to encourage them but also as a reminder to myself.

Life is beautifully hard.

As I mentioned here, I’ve been facing some interesting challenges in mine that I’m not ready to share yet. This is not a marketing strategy or bullshit. I honestly hope to heal to a point to share it. I bet someone can learn from my experience. I bet in the future I will have more clarity on what these episodes meant to be. I will connect the dots, just like Steve Jobs said: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards”.

Empowering women has been my mission for years. I just haven’t realized that this was “my thing” until I got seriously hurt and lost. Odara has been my light, my little girl, my vision of a better world. There are days, like today, where I feel like giving birth in the middle of a chaos.

I’m in panic, scared and truly blessed.

Odarize-se! ❤
